How to play Crazy Eights: Planets
You and the computer each start with five planet cards. On your turn, play a card that matches the top card by number, planet picture, or color. The colored bands make matches easier to see while kids learn the planet names.
You may draw one card instead of playing a match. If you do not have a card you can play, draw one card at a time until you find one. A Black Hole card is wild: play it on any card, then choose which color comes next. The first player to play every card in their hand wins.
Why it builds thinking skills
Crazy Eights: Planets gives kids practice sorting cards by more than one rule. They notice the current color, planet, and number, remember which cards they are holding, and recognize the planets as they play.
Because a Black Hole changes the color, kids also practice making a small plan: choose the color that gives them the best chance of playing another card next.
Tips for parents and teachers
Ask your child to say why a card can be played — “same color,” “same planet,” “same number,” or “Black Hole.” Ask what they remember about the planet shown on the card.
There is no timer or score. The goal is to play thoughtfully, notice patterns, and enjoy the space theme.
